Specific Foods From Specific Places

We all know them; the food items that you already love but love even more because you can only get them in certain countries, cities or shops. Here are some of my favourites lined up:

 

 

Drop

 

 

This must be my absolute favourite. In the Netherlands, it's everywhere. Abroad you can sometimes find it, but it's just not like the real thing. It's just not as good. And they ever have the salty ones, while those are the best.

 

 

 

Yorkshire Tea




Some people will say this is "just normal black tea". But it's so much more than that. It tastes like good memories of my time in Leeds. It's the only tea I ever drink with milk and sugar, because that's the proper way to drink it.


 

Rocky Road Bites



A combination of chocolate, cookies and marshmallow. What's not awesome about that?


 

Caramelized Pear Tea



This tea smells so great! A mix of cinnamon and caramel. Hmmm.


 

Brinta




Some kind of fine grinded oats. Great for porridge but also in smoothies and pancakes etc. This producs solves the issue I have with the chuncky texture of normal oats.



 

Calvé Pindakaas



Because this peanut butter is just better than other peanut butters.


 

Cathedral Mature Cheddar



The cheddars of this brand are just some of my favourite cheeses ever. Almost as good as Gouda.


 

GermKnödel




Weird but tasty! Defs going to score some of his at the next Christmas Market.


 

Speculoos Paste



Spreadable cookies. Do I need to say more? A while ago you could only get this in Belgium but I have seen it in the Netherlands and Luxembourg as well now.

 

Gromperenkichelcher



Some sort of deep friend potato cakes with onions and herbs that go surprisingly well with apple compote. Very tasty but also very oily. It's easy to get nauseous from eating these but they are hard to resist.

 

Oat Cakes

This was one of my favourite library foods when I lived in England.


 

Maple Sirup Candy



Maple syrup without the pancake! Just because it's also very good on its own.


 

Dulche di Leche



So creamy and sweet and rich in taste. This makes any dessert even better than it already is.


 

Rekorderlig



Sweet and fruity ciders that are available in many different flavours. Till now I have only spotted them in the UK and in the Czech Republic. To me they are the British version of Belgium Fruit beers.

 

Eierkoeken




I can't go back to the Netherlands without eating some of these for breakfast. Sweet and light and fluffy. No toppings needed. They are perfect just on their own (although there is also a great variation with chocolate pieces).

 

Grapefruit Radler

 

I drank this all the time when I was in Slovenia. It's very light and fresh. Perfect for the summer.

 

Stroop



Just because of childhood memories. It's a Dutch version of maple syrup.

 

Stroopwafel Stukjes

 

Us Dutch people don't like to waste things. So we recycle our stroopwafel leftovers into a new snack.

 

Verse Stroopwafel



Warm caramel in a fresh and crispy cookie. You can smell it from miles away and it tastes and smells awesome.


Kono Pizza
 

 

 It is pizza in the shape of ice cream! They have it in several countries but till now I only ate it in Italy.

 

So that was it for now. It's making me feel hungry to see all these food pictures (especially since I can't have most of them right now).
