Our second day in Prague started with a Castle Tour (http://www.newpraguetours.com/daily-tours/prague-castle-tour.html). This tour costs less than 10 euros and lasts three hours (tram ticket included), a good deal I would say!
The tour passes the royal gardens and all the castle's surroundings full of beautiful buildings, but you do not enter the castle itself (quite a shame). Still, there is plenty to see. Since the caste is on a hill there are amazing views over different parts of the city.
These is a lot to see in this area of Prague and our tour guide pointed out many places that we should go and see if we had the chance. But to do this we would have needed much more time in the city, and we just had four days.
One part of the tour was the Golden Lane, this really narrow street with teeny tiny houses and shops. Normally you have to pay to get in, but at 17.00 the entrance is free. Hence why it was super busy when we entered. I liked the Golden Lane, the architecture was different than that of the surrounding area and it was a bit like walking though a collection of doll houses.
The Castle Tour ends on top of the hill, in between vineyards. You can either take a tram or a scenic walking route back to the city (I recommend the last one). Walking does not take long and you get to see a lot of beautiful sights.
After the tour we ate at a typical Czech restaurant and tried some of the national dishes. We found out we're both not a fan of these things they call potato dumplings. To me they taste mashed potato with a very wrong, kind of chewy, texture. The roast duck and goulash are pretty fab though!
After dinner we got ready for the famous Prague Pub Crawl. You go to three local bars en then end up in a big club in Prague. It's a great way to meet other tourists and to see different places in Prague to go out. It was fun!
Pictures are stunning! Leuk om te lezen ook :)
